Mingarry Lodges

. . . time for nature in the heart of the Northwest Highlands of Scotland

For Wildlife and Walking Enthusiasts

The Lodges provide ideal holiday accommodation for all those who enjoy wildlife and the great outdoors.

For wildlife enthusiasts: The area is renowned for its wildlife, including red squirrel, pine marten, wild cat, otter, red deer, osprey, golden eagle, raven, ptarmigan, sea eagle, black- throated divers, hen harriers dolphin, harbour porpoise, basking shark and minkie whale. Distinctive lichen communities are found in the local Atlantic oak woodlands, including parmelion, lobarion, usneion and graphidion, a real treat for lichenologists. There is also a great variety of flowering plants, ferns, mosses and bryophytes associated with the varied habitat types. We are happy to offer advice on local sightings and good places to see wildlife.

Thank you very much for a great place to stay in every way. We have had a fantastic holiday and the grand children have enjoyed seeing all the wildlife. Even coming from the Lake District we found your scenery out of this world.

Red squirrel and pine martens are resident at Mingarry Lodges, with good views afforded of the former from the cabins. This year we have greater spotted woodpeckers nesting in the woods just behind The Lodges.

For walking enthusiasts: There are many scenic walks in the area to suit all tastes and fitness levels, ranging from gentle strolls, to coastal, forest and moorland walks, through to challenging mountain treks. See our walking page for more details. A great way to spend your holiday!
