Mingarry is a small crofting community in the North West Highlands of Scotland. Well situated for touring Lochaber, Moidart, Morvern, The Ardnamurchan as well as The Small Isles and the Isles of Mull and Skye. Mingarry is 3km from the village of Acharacle which provides local amenities including shops, bakery, post office, medical practice and restaurants. There are also pubs nearby in Salen and Glenuig.

Mingarry is situated in Moidart at the gateway to the Ardnamurchan in the North West Highlands of Scotland as shown on Google maps.

By Road

Head towards Fort William on the A82 and choose one of the two routes below.

Take the Corran Ferry (14km south of Fort William) and follow the A861 through Strontian and Acharacle to Mingarry. The ferry runs half hourly through the day at 15 minutes to and past the hour from the A82 up until around 9pm. Timetables and further information are available.

Follow the A830 out of Fort William toward Mallaig. After 40km turn left on the A861 at Lochailort signposted to Glenuig and Salen. Mingarry is 14km after Glenuig.

Mingarry Lodges are in the centre of the small working crofting community of Mingarry between the Clanranald Guest House and Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and Church Hall. The Lodges are well signed (lookout for the large blue sign boards) and visible from the road.

Note that if you are using a SatNav, the postcode for PH36 4JX is likely to be centred on Dalnabreck, 2km east of Mingarry.

By Train

Fort William is a terminus for the Caledonian Sleeper, with regular services from London Euston. Bargin Berths are sometimes available. There is a regular train service between Fort William and Mallaig which stops at Lochailort station, some 26km North of Mingarry. Car hire is also available in Fort William, eg EasyDrive. Buses are available from Fort William and Lochailort, see below.

By Plane

Glasgow, Edinburgh and Inverness airports provide convenient access points to the Highlands. Glasgow is 193km to the South, Edinburgh, 237 km to the South East and Inverness, 184km to the North. It is possible to hire a car at these aiports or catch one of the regular coach services to Fort William.

Shiel buses run a regular service between Fort William and Acharacle. Traveline Scotland also provides timetable and journey planning information.
