We recently returned to Mingarry lodges after visiting many years ago and having wonderful memories, and it did not disappoint - it was even more beautiful than I remembered. I don't know where to start! The lodges are just beautiful, so comfy and homely and with everything you could need. The grounds of the lodges are wonderful, I've never heard so much bird song! The wildlife around the lodges is just amazing - one of the days we didn't even leave for a walk and just watched wildlife all day! When you do venture out, there is no shortage of things to do - the local area is just stunning, my favourite place in the UK, and you don't even need to look anything up before you come to be honest as the lodges have so much information and so many amazing sites and walks recommended. I really don't think I could put into words how amazing the lodges are to visit. I can't wait to book another holiday here and come back again as soon as I can! Thank you so much for a much needed break.

Jayne greeted us on arrival and was welcoming, warm and friendly. The cabin was spotlessly clean and very comfortable the furniture being of good quality and kitchen appliances first rate, I don't think there was anything a renter required the Jayne hadn't catered for, it was extremely well equipped. The beds were very clean and comfortable ensuring we had a good nights sleep, linen and towels were also good quality. It wasn't just people Jayne catered for as there were many bird feeders around for everyone to enjoy from the proximity of the sofa. All in all I don't think there is anything I could find fault with even the weather was kind to us which all made for a wonderful weeks holiday.
Central location, superb wildlife. We felt very safe with the thorough cleaning regime instigated by the owners.
This was our second visit to Hooting Lodge, we had previously visited in Autumn, but wanted to see the area in Spring.
We initially booked for last May but due to Covid the visit was delayed for a year.
Hooting Lodge is the best equipped self catering facility we have ever visited, there is just everything that you need. We were also very impressed by the thoroughness of the precautions taken due to Covid. The risk was truly minimal. We felt most welcome.
Moydart is a fantastic area in Spring, with great scenery, a long and interesting history, superb wildlife, but relatively unspoilt.
We are enthusiastic walkers and enjoyed a wide range of walking, all well described in the lodge information.
One feature we greatly enjoyed was the cameras around the lodge that were displayed on the television, and provided playback. We discovered so much from them that we did not watch any conventional television.
Our abiding memories are the fresh greens of the trees and hillside covered in primroses, and the view from Ben Hiant!
We have stayed here on previous occasions. Jayne and Andrew could not be more accommodating. The cleanliness and covid cleaning were perfect. As before an extremely well equipped cabin with unbelievable attention to every detail..
We will be back. Jayne and Andrew just feel like friends.
I just thought the whole set up was first class. The Lodges are lovely and extremely well equipped. We are going again. Ken
We have stayed here many times and the lodges are always homely comforting places to stay. The effort the owners Jayne and Andrew put into making your holiday so special is outstanding. You could not want for anything in the lodge - everything imaginable is there for you. The attention to superb cleanliness has always been outstanding but in these times of the pandemic so much extra is done which involves so much effort and time. Thank you for all of this. We had a great holiday as always.
Another fabulous peaceful, relaxing stay at Mingarry lodges! Especially needed in this crazy year. Jayne and Andrew put so much into making you feel at home, everything you could think of provided and all a very high standard. Felt extremely safe, the extra work and time involved to ensure lodges comply with covid restrictions is outstanding. Our 5th visit and will definitely be back, location, high standards, walks, wildlife, scenery have now spoilt us for anywhere else!! Always sad to leave but always know we'll be back! ❤️
We were lucky to be able to escape before the next lockdown and enjoy a break in this beautiful Lodge. Mingarry Lodge was recommended to us by a friend and we were certainly not disappointed. Jayne and Andrew provide their guests with everything that they need and more. Their attention to details is second to none. The weather wasn't so good so we weren't able to cycle as planned but we still went out everyday exploring this rugged and beautiful region. The autumnal colours were amazing.
This was our second stay at Mingarry and we thought we'd try a different season to last time. The weather was mixed but given the time of year we went prepared. The local area and wildlife were spectacular and didn't disappoint. Although Covid19 nearly prevented our holiday we felt safe and comfortable in our stay. Jayne always thinks of the fine details and makes sure her lodges are to a high standard. We enjoyed our stay so much we have booked the next one.
We have stayed many times and the lodge and owners ALWAYS exceed our expectations. It is like home from home. The wildlife sightings around are exceptional. Our score would be 100/10!!!! Thank you to Jayne and Andrew for all their hard work in making the lodge Covid secure in these challenging times.
We stayed at Mingarry Lodges last year and I must say it has made it difficult to go elsewhere in Scotland. Often one might go somewhere and it doesn’t quite match the first time, but once again Jayne and Andrew have exceeded our expectations in what are extremely difficult circumstances. They are Covid trained to ensure the safety of all their guests but still provided all the facilities as before. Meticulous cleaning throughout. Wildlife is truly exceptional and there is no need to travel or experience discomfort to enjoy it, it is literally right on your doorstep. Last year I was blown away by the variety of wildlife which was exceeded this year, probably because Jayne and Andrew cater for them as well as the guests. We will definitely be visiting again but it would appear that we need to book earlier because the popularity of this very personal wildlife haven is growing fast.
Having stayed in the lodges twice before we knew in advance that the property would be clean, comfortable and well equipped.
Hygiene is important, now more than ever and it was reassuring to know the high level of preparation that takes place between guests moving in and out.
The area is great for wildlife with golden eagles soaring around the tops of glens and red deer roaming the flanks of the hills and even seen just either side of the village.
The bird feeders were constantly in demand with many species seen.
Lots to do and see in the area without travelling large distances, a handy village store in Acharacle.
I would highly recommend the lodges for a holiday...and in October the midges were not too much of a nuisance but any regular visitor to Scotland goes prepared for the tiny blighters!
We drove up the drive to be welcomed with this beautiful lodge, hanging baskets in bloom . Inside the lodge was spotless, there was nothing you didint have in the kitchen. Fresh clean decor . Plenty of hot water. Cant fault the lodge It was just luxury and beautiful. The wildlife was amazing. Jayne and Andrew are so helpful and friendly. We have stayed all over Scotland in cottages and lodges and Mingarry is the best by far. Cant wait until next year .
Our stay at Mingarry Lodges was awesome. Jayne and Andrew have created a wonderful place to watch the local wildlife, so many birds it was amazing. The lodges are cosy, perfectly kitted out with everything (and more) you could possibly need, and a bumper information pack to help you decide how to spend your time in the area. The furniture and fittings are all in excellent condition, and scrupulously clean.
We had some lovely chats with Jayne, a truly lovely lady, and I’m finally glad to have met someone who spends more on wild bird food than I do!! Money very well spent :-)
It was wonderful watching the wildlife on the camera system they have set up, better than any TV show.
We had only been in the lodge two hours when we booked another stay next year, we are already looking forward to returning.
Thank you Jayne and Andrew, see you soon.
What a fantastic place to stay. Jayne and Andrew are so helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them.
The wildlife is fabulous both from the lodge and in the local area.
We love walking and found several wonderful walks ( lots of info in the lodge folders). Our favourites were to The Singing Sands and Blain Burn.
The scenery on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula is breathtaking.
We have already booked for next year.
Location of the lodges is excellent with easy access to the Ardnamurchan peninsula and many other surrounding locations with beautiful loch and mountain views in all directions. The facilities for viewing and experiencing wildlife from the lodges is amazing with visits from a great variety of birds and mammals. The furnishings were very good quality and the kitchen equipment provided for every need. There was also a very generous welcome pack which exceeded basics. The books about birds mammals and many other natural history subjects as well as a selection of OS maps were brilliant as was the information folders containing many local walks with maps and details. The local facilities in Atharacle, post office/store and the Tioram cafe are very good. We would recommend the boat trip on Loch Shiel and the Glenborrowdale visitors center too. Further afield is Glenfinnan with the visitors centre, monument and views of the famous viaduct and the Jacobite steam train.
During this our second week we saw an Otter at Singing Sands and White Tailed Sea Eagles at both Loch Shiel and Loch Sunart. The viewing hide at Resipole is worth a visit too.

This was the third time we have returned to Mingarry Lodges. Hooting lodge is an extremely pleasant place to stay. The lodge was clean, comfortable and very well equipped and the "goodies" that Jayne and Andrew provided in the kitchen were most appreciated. There are lots of wildlife to be seen around the lodge and pleasant walks near by. Further afield the scenery is stunning and again wildlife can present at any point in your journey. We saw a family of four white tailed eagles on our way to Sanna Bay so don't forget your binoculars! It was always pleasant to return to Hooting Lodge at the end of a day's exploring and watch the many birds on the feeders. Andrew and Jayne are very helpful hosts and aimed to make our stay as enjoyable and as relaxing as possible. We have booked again for next year.
